WELCOME TO CIRCUIT DE MEDIUM*

Welcome to CIRCUIT DÈ MEDIUM* A touring exhibition by WANNABENZO & MEDIUM*

The experience presents an integration of their worlds of art and automotive culture, forming a multidisciplinary showcasing space alongside their collaborators from a contemporary frame of reference. Our collaborators range from specialists in the development of functional art, textiles, photography, and print through a curated experience.

LENZO MANGONYANE & BONGANI TSHABALALA

The collaboration that MADE IT OUT THE HARD DRIVE: Where do we even begin? With a relationship and collaborations that trail all the way back to 2018. Together we’ve explored various mediums: from documenting ourselves in the era of fit pics, visuals, printing tees, to making multiple songs that haven’t left the hard drive. 7 years later, on the 1st of May, we’ll be bringing to life our showcasing space and exhibiting a touring collaboration titled ‘Circuit De’ a Paddock Exhibition bringing our worlds @wannabenzo x @medium__________ together.

An exploration of the tension between accessibility, functionality and future value of our stories in physical form and experiences from a contemporary frame of reference. We’re excited to have you be a part of the beginning of this renaissance alongside our collaborators as we bring together the ideologies of design, art and automotive culture.

XZAVIER ZULU & LENZO MANGONYANE

SHOWCASING COLLABORATORS: (Xzavier Zulu x Lenzo Mangonyane) will be presenting a piece titled “ISHLALO” constructed in the year 2022.

Denim is an incredibly democratic fabric, hence Xzavier Zulu’s continued use of it throughout his practice, as he’d always hoped that with the ongoing upcycling series, EVERYTHING IS A SAMPLE, people would develop their own relationship with the fabric.

This collaboration with (Lenzo Mangonyane & @wannabenzo) is testament of that intent coming into fruition and a celebration of their own friendship and collaborations over the years.”

FRANCESCO MBELE & KHUMO MOROJELE

SHOWCASING COLLABORATORS: (Francesco Mbele & Khumo Morojele) present “Collision Theory”. A body of work that is inspired by the repurposing of upcycled airbags, constructed into an ensemble of garments and bags.

The idea is pillared through the exploration of discarded airbags from crashed cars, and providing the materials with innovated life.

Through the project, the pair highlight the importance of research, process and sustainability, studied through a range of design principles across industries.
